Car 5 will be rehabilitated following the Secretary of the Interior Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The car is nationally significant and with Federal funding the work plan must be reviewed by the State Historic Preservation Officer. A project team is being assembled now. (If you have professional wood car experience and interested, send could your details and expectations to director at trainmuseum dot org)
Much of the interior paneling is extant however several walls and the pews were removed in 1948.
There was sidesill damage sustained in a 1940s era switching accident aboard a Puget Sound barge that has finally caught up with the car and that will be the most impactful and intrusive repair.
