Re: Milwaukee Road #261 to run again! Puzzling?

The museum wanting it back was akin to the dog chasing a car and catching it. Now what?

Suffice it to say that there was enough ignorance on the museum board that they didn't understand what was going on when 261 was running, what it took, or the financial realities. They thought if they got it back, they'd have a cash cow, or that they could squeeze Sandbeg & Co. for a bigger share of the income (notice I didn't say "profit.")

Reality bites, so eventually the museum began to realize they had made a big mistake. Fortunatly, Sandburg & Co. stood firm on ownership to prevent future meddling by a clueless museum board. This is by far the best outcome for everyone involved, except the museum, which caused the entire drama in the first place and may, just may, have learned something.

It is also a warning to others who operate and invest in locomotives they don't own. Yes, it could happen to you!

All in all, a good outcome. IMO.
