The ranks of volunteers at rr museums/groups are on average getting older. Who will take their place? I foresee a stronger association and collaboration between our museums in the future. I don't want to say 'merger', but it would serve the purpose of preservation and the survival of equipment, assets and even the existentence of museums on the fringe of disbanding/dissolving. With that said, I suggest the CTRC of San Jose further utilize the friendships that exist between themselves and the PLA to, among other things, restore the 2479, build the Lenzen Roundhouse at Niles, while still having a scaled down interpretive museum in Santa Clara County.
Now is the time to get together and ensure a place for historic railroading in the future.
