Effective immediately, a new policy is in effect on the Altamont Press Discussion Board. When detected, posts that violate the following rules will be deleted.
1. No disparaging remarks about other individuals.
Posts that attempt to smear the personal reputation of another person will not be allowed. Calling somebody a jerk, loser, idiot, prick, etc, or using unflattering nicknames is considered a violation of this rule.
2. No disparaging remarks about railfan-related businesses or websites.
This does not prohibit respectful, constructive criticism of a business provided you do not violate Rule No. 1 in this section and the content isn't intended to sabotage the livelihood of a business, or exaggerate the facts.
Acceptable posts would look like this:
I feel I was mistreated by ___________ company. Explain the facts. Explain why you disapprove. Then offer suggestions for the business to improve.
3. Do not post simply to draw attention to yourself or the discussion.
In other words, don't start or contribute to a flame war. If you have something to say, say it once, twice if necessary, and let it go.
Allow other people to voice their opinions without stepping on them or dominating the discussion.
Thank you for understanding,
David Curlee
