Who's keeping history alive?? How do we get younger people interested??

Two earlier threads, slide collections and fire season, brought to mind the fact that the interest in historic preservation of any kind seems to be fading as those who "remember when" die off and younger people have their own "historic" experiences and are not interested in "that old stuff" anymore. Anyone out there know of any successful efforts to bring younger blood into railroad history and RR historic preservation?? As I think about it, the group at the local model railroad club is getting kinda long in the tooth too. Anyone know of any successful efforts to get younger people interested in the various aspects of the railroading hobby?
