I realize not every young person is going to be a computer genius. In fact, few probably are and those are not likely to have railfannning as a high priority.
But, just as you would probably not turn a new young musuem/historic group member loose on restoration work or on providing tours to the public without some training, so the same should apply to computer work.
Initially, the young person is going to need some guidance and guidelines. Later on, he (or she) should be able to do more and more on his (her) own.
I was simply suggesting that there were options beyond having new young members sweep the floors or do simple work that does not involve hazardous tools or processes.
