Some railroad organizations kill off younger participation with draconian AGE restrictions...
For example, there is a "model railroad club" in the Bay Area that for well over 50-60 years, did NOT allow "Junior Members".. You had to be at least 21 Years old to join a train club...

Duh? Are we talking a train hobby, folks, or a requirement to have a drink in the local tavern ??

In another case, another club, which was using public property for it's site, did NOT allow WOMEN to join for almost 40 years, until they were warned to change their policy or face the rath of certain public agencies..

It is examples like these that encourage RR organizations to die a slow, painful death.
