I have several rail friends, and we've talked in the past about the similarities that are present in railroading employment and law enforcement employment. There is a certain time period that must pass before you are "accepted", and before that happens, you better sit back and shut up and listen to what the professionals are telling you. A security guard does NOT instantly know how to be a cop, just as a foamer does NOT instantly know how to run a train. You have to be humble and accept that you don't know squat, and it will all take time if you keep your nose clean and listen to what the veterans are telling you. And once the older, more experienced employees start messing with you, then you're beginning to get accepted. But these days, geezus, some new hires don't see that and think it's harassment..... times have sure changed.
