I think one of the quickest paint jobs was Burlington Northern (for motive power). Things turned green pretty fast, some units were painted only a year or less before retirement. The BN merger seemed to have a strong focus on getting rid of the identities of the prior roads, BN went so far as to pay to have the cement monads removed from cement overpasses in a couple of cities in 1970.
