The International Port of Coos Bay has made a deal with the Union Pacific Railroad for the last segment of the Coos Bay Rail Line.
The Port made the deal official after a filing with the Surface Transportation Board in Washington D.C. late yesterday afternoon.
A majority of the Coos Bay Rail Line was purchased by the Port from Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad that ran from Eugene to North Bend. The remaining segment from the Coos Bay Rail Bridge in North Bend to the end of the line at Coquille was still owned by Union Pacific.
A deal has been struck with Union Pacific to donate the 22 mile Coquille Branch to the Port. In the filing the Port stated the transaction is expected to close by July 23rd.
