UP North of Redding

Lots of side roads all the way to Mount Shasta town.

Backtrack to the boating town at the North approach to the big bridge.

Several good "old" roads to the North, in the canyon.

Upstream of Dunsmuir, find the old road parallel to the track. Find the bridge where a train was straight-lined into the river with PR repercussions.

If you have any trucking background, this bit of I-5 is famous.
