On Saturday, July 3rd, Sierra Railway #3 returned to service at Railtown 1897, in Jamestown, CA.
The 1891 Rogers product has been out of service for several years and has undergone majoer repairs, the most significant being the installation of a new boiler.
Saturday morning, it broke thru a paper banner in front of the Jamestown freigh house under a shower of water (that did wonders for photos--note the "spots") from the Columbia and Sonora VFD's and their hand pumper fire wagons. Afterward, it ran a number of excuersions down to Wood's Creek and back, alternating with Shay #2.
At this point, I can't help but wonder how much of the original locomotive still exists.
