Perhaps the SD45's will do okay. The MRL uses them on the ex NP Polson (MT) branch with no problems. Rail is 85 lbs. as I recall. I remember a BN line in the seventies that got unit grain trains in the harvest season using big BN power including SD45's, SDP45's and F45's. Rail was 75lbs and 85lbs. Sidings were 56lbs. One day we had three trains go in the ditch although I don't think the power had anything to do with it.
However I agree that Geeps would be so much easier to rerail.
