I think one of the worst characteristics of Southern California is the proliferation of billboards everywhere. The billboard industry has all the appropriate politicians bought off and in obdient complicance. They're nothing more that a legalized form of "corporate graffiti." Along I-10 out toward Palm Springs they're evenly spaced like a picket fence. Funny how we're frequently lectured about how we should conserve electricity, yet there's always enough juice to keep those things fired up as they're trying to sell us something we neither want nor need. Oh, that's right. They create jobs, so that's why we should love them. They don't allow billboards in Hawaii. Why do you suppose that is?
