Well, it really wasn't several years ago-- it was only a couple of years ago that the trade of equipment took place with Portola via the SN connection with the UPRR at "CANNON", just North of FAIRFIELD. You can verify this and get the exact date from the folks at FRRS / PORTOLA.

For a long time, UPRR stored flat cars or some such items on the line, near the border of "Travis Air Force Base". There is/was a complex assortment of switches and sidings at CANNON to facilitate moves between the two railroads. Running South on the CAL-P, one turnout allowed a crossover movement to the Northbound main. Then another turnout allowed a Southbound movement from the Northbound main into a SIDING. From this siding, a connection was made to the "Sacramento Northern" (now the Museum trackage of BAERA//WRM)...

When we used to operate 22-car streamliners from Oakland to RVJ via the SP and SN, the SP locomotives were cutoff at CANNON and replaced by an SN diesel switcher which pulled the huge train all the way down to the Museum proper at RVJ. The SP locomotives were stored at the CANNON siding until our return. The train was run in an Eastbound direction to DOZIER on the SN and turned on the WYE that used to be there and then BACKED down to the Museum.

When UPRR took charge, the DOZIER WYE was removed which was unfortunate, as the Museum could have really made use of it. At CANNON, there was a steel girder bridge over the CAL-P which took the SN over the SP mainline in order for the SN to reach WILLOTA and VACAVILLE. Not too far WEST of the Cal-P line was another WYE (on the SN). This was VACAVILLE JUNCTION.
Both this WYE and the Bridge were removed several years ago.
