I have found the lighting at Davis anytime of day is difficult. The distracting shadows on your shot of the Superliner indicates some of the problem. But your shot of Capitol 542's cab car sure takes advantage of the lighting. I would have fixed the warp on the shot of 542's diesel and the station but the way the light plays across the frame is very nice. And who could not love your documentation of the unique remote-control indicator lights on Cal Northern's 109's cab? I not seen any other RR do this.
You have proven the rule of thumb that pictures taken within two hours of sunrise or two hours of sunset are the most dramatic with your two Capitol shots. The same pictures taken midday would have been lackluster in comparison
