Friday morning, at approximately 4 AM, the EWG passed through Davenport westbound with a rather long string of empties. I remember it well because when I heard the horn (being blown as quietly as a 5 chime Nathan can sound) it woke me up. And then I thought about this train passing through the area where the fires had been Thursday evening! I actually got up and went outside int eh dark to watch the train pass.
Everything must have been alright because the train came back through eastbound Saturday night at about 8 PM. The grain harvest locally is in full swing, so rail traffic will most likely increase for the foreseeable future. I just hope there are fewer 4 AM trips.
