The 1973 target makes it about right. When I rode Amtrak's "San Joaquin" in 1974, it was gone.
The conductor told me it had been leveled, but he wasn't sure when. That's correct about it appearing in the 1967 movie "Cool Hand Luke" (one of my top 5 favorite movies). I saw it recently on the Turner channel, and in the far right side of the picture frame the name "Holt" appeared on the station side. It also made an appearance in the 1969 movie "Then Came Bronson", which began the TV series. Thanks for the info.
