One of the scare tactics used by the "ruling cabal" to drive off these diesels was the story that they (the 917 and 712) broke the headwall on the first trestle south of the Junction. This is a total lie because neither of these was ever operated over the trestle (the 711 was, one round trip in the late 1970s - by the SN, not WRM); and only the northern headwall is damaged, the south one isn't. This means that the damage was caused by the steel trains: loads southbound, empties northbound, the same type of train which dropped the Lisbon trestle.
