Many thanks for an incredible unexpected response.. Not wishing to cause you to make an extensive reply... another question came to mind. While on the frontend nothbound SN No. 2 during a winter rainstorm.. likely about 1940 I was surprised when we stopped on the mainline and the motorman took a phone off wall (which I'd never noticed before.. or after) he..got down and plugged into a receptacle on a pole to talk with dispatch. I think we were north of Live Oak. Back then, didnt think to inquire how many cars carried phones and if they were only used on the northend. Tnk for reply.. Don't think I was seeing things...
