Interesting discussion. At first I thought that maybe they weren't visible because of the photo angle, like this shot of the 6450 where you can barely see the right-side one and not the left-side one at all:

But then I found this Robert Dengler photo of the unit from August 1972, showing the front breakers are definately missing:

They're back on in this August 1973 photo by Mike Palmieri (the horn's been changed, too):

And they were there previously in this Bob Morris photo of the Klamath:
[www.snowcrest.net]
So, what do you think the story is, Wes? Was this the unit that was leased to the Rio Grande for the Ogden connection?
