TURF war at Mare Island

San Francisco Bay Railroad and Lennar (who is managing Mare Island for City of Vallejo) are in a turf war on who operates and provides rail service on the island. What it boils down to is that after allowing SFBR to provide rail service in conjunction with Alstom Co. who is doing the repairs and retrofit work on the Capitol Corridor cars at their facility on Mare Island, LENNAR has suddenly discovered that there is potential, traffic and money to be made on the Island. Lennar is doing everything they can to stop a legitimate railroad. Here are the fillings with the STB. It makes for very interesting reading. Note that LENNAR shut down rail operations and kicked Cal Northern out!
