Re: Virginia and Truckee radio channels

I recall once being told they do not have assigned AAR (railroad band) channels; instead they use generic business band, GMRS, or other such non-RR radios. I would be curious to know in that rugged terrain whether they have a fixed-location base station, repeater, or such.
