I can't imagine there's enough demand to justify additional passenger service over the hill. The question is, for every sold out California Zephyr, how many Reno-bound ticket buyers that are turned away ride other trains.

Of course that hasn't stopped them in the past, build the station and they "might" come, as Mountain View knows.

Me, I think it would be cool, I'd ride it a few times for the novelty, and then go right back to taking my car and all the flexibility of a personal conveyance with me.

But hey, maybe they could add a one-way to Reno, and give away free tickets for everyone who buys a house here. People here used to complain about Californians coming over the hill and driving up housing prices. Now they beg for it.

Now, if they'd add a stop in Cisco...
