Mitch, on my most recent trip to Philly, in January 2009, our group stayed at a new hotel right alongside the old RDG viaduct about a block north of the trainshed. The view from the upper stories includes a great look at the old ROW as it curves away from 12th Street.

Most of our group was from the Portland, Ore. area, and had never to the city. Since I had grown up in the area, I wound up playing tour guide, including a trip into the Reading Terminal Market. They were really impressed with the shopping and food choices.
