Those mics allow dispatch to know about gunfire as most citizens don't seem to bother to call. The info shows up on patrol car screens instantly, AFAIK. The system can pinpoint the source of shots fired very precisely. Personally, I'd stick with Emeryville rather than hang out in Richmond at night for #14.
