Right. But all of SP's were bi-directional, so it really didn't matter. The 2400 and 2402 thru 2409 had Duplex Controllers (I can explain what that is if anyone's interested); 2401 was originally built with one but was rebuilt by Alco with Dual Controls (two separate control stands).

Easiest way to tell is that the exhaust stack (and thus the engine) is on the front end and the radiator (and thus the radiator shutters) are on the rear end - one of the many design flaws that would cause problems for the units over the years. In Steve's photo of the 2400, you can see the "F" stencil on the frame, but this tended to wear off over time.
This is probably one of the CofI jobs working the hump.
