You're right-- Restoring the original main entrance facing Jackson Street would be a grand improvement.. Years ago, I remember the electric neon sign at the North end of the building that stated something like: "Electric Stairs to Jackson Street"...
Electric Stairs ???? (Fancy words for an Escalator)...
The former Restaurant needs to be restored as well. I've been in the junk infested back room where it used to be. The many "dark circles" on the floor indicated where the "counter stools" used to be positioned..
For a long time, two senior citizens were contracted to provide snack service in the main waiting room. What a joke that was. They could hardly walk... Let alone provide anything resembling a "snack"..
Do it right the first time around. Restore the place to its 1906 grandeur.
Re-open a first class eatery-- CLEAN the joint inside and out--Repair the clock.. Have decent bathrooms. Hire 24-hour security to keep the homeless out.. et al...
If PORTLAND can have a beautiful depot, so can Seattle.. Thanks.
