The Bus Tunnel-- Yeah !!
It closed on September 24, 2005. It is supposed to re-open to
Bus-only traffic in September--2007. However, the Sound Transit
"Link" Light Rail trains are not to start up until sometime in 2009...

The idea of the tunnel conversion currently going on is to have 60-foot articulated "Hybrid" buses "share" the right-of-way with the light rail trains. In other words, if you are driving a BUS thru the tunnel, you may have a 5-car TRAIN in front of you and possibly a 3-car train behind you.. Quite a novel idea, don't you think ??

The "Motormen" who will operate the light rail trains, will be selected from the existing BUS Driver ranks of King County METRO...

Hope this added info is helpful. Even though not directly related to my blurb about King Street Station, I thought I would comment since another poster brought up the subject..
