Yea, it seems that Alco really missed the mark regards reliability of their product in the late 1960's. Espee at one time showed enough faith in them to buy the largest fleet of PA/PB's; their electrical systems & dynamic brakes were superior to EMD's. Later The Friendly would buy C-628 & C-630 road diesels to replace EMD F-Units over Donner & Shasta. Of course Espee's EMD bias was showing as they also bought 3 times as many SD-40's & SD-45's at the same time.
