I just love odd coincidences! I was taking a break and fiddling with a slide of my Father's. I scanned several this morning, interesting result with this one. He shot in 1980, my shot is in 1968, exact same location, even the locomotives are in the same spot in each photo! Funny the way this worked out, as neither of us shot trains going away often. The shoreline has moved out just a bit, signal and most track perfectly overlap, earlier shot is low tide, Dad's is high tide. His photo has a UP freight. I juxtaposed them and they fit perfectly!
So, the left side is 1968, center is half and half blend, and right side is 1980.
Now, on the left side, Schuster Parkway's uphill side uses the old Sperry Mill spur grade. All the old grain warehouses are gone too. This is the area that the NP first had it's freight depot and dock area, and behind the camera is the Moon Yard (technically, Half Moon Yard, but nobody calls it that !). The NP and GN are history, and the bridge we stood on is gone as well.
