Back somwhere around 1959 I acquired my first 120 twin lens reflex. Used, since I was a poor college student. I seem to remember the camera shop guy saying it was a good "portrait" camera. I learned that what he meant was the lens was soft, which was fine of obscuring skin blemishes, or some such. Between the poor lens, verycrummypan film, and drugstore processing my earliest black and white efforts are pretty poor. But occasionally I find one that I like. And Photoshop can help sharpen up the softness a bit. This image was a pleasant surprise. I had started to scan and process other GW image, but it was so bad I gave up. But this one was in the same sleeve, so I decided to give it a shot.
Great Western 90
The 90 survives and is now at Strasburg. After chasing her in 1961, I was surprised to run into her again in 1968 on a fan trip in Pennsylvania, on the CNJ. Here's that image:
