It's a GE, parts always fall off, some are just more important than others. In 40 years I've only had one EMD throw a piston out the side of the carbody, and that was an SD-45 that was leaking water into one cylinder and it filled with water and experienced hydrostatic lockup in run-8. (Kept loading until it lost oil pressure, making an ungodly noise. Couldn't isolate it fast enough. Later roundhouse explained what had happened, totaled the engine block.) But in the last year alone, I've had 5 GE's blow fuel lines and catch fire, 2 throw turbo parts out the stack, and one throw something out the side of the carbody that we never could figure out where it came from and it ran just fine afterwards. But GE's are "green" units---if you don't count the parts that fall off. (GE's have gotten better in recent years, U-25C's had some spectacular problems, not to mention a horrible ride on those funky trucks, and oh, those leaky cab roofs---right up to the standard cab dash-8's.)
