I don't know what DIC means, but conclude DIT is "dead in tow"?

DIC means dead in consist. DIT generally means Dead in Train

In consist, the locomotive, even if dead may have it's MU hoses set up to operate as a trailing unit. In train, the unit has its "dead engine cutout" placed in position so that the locomotive's air brake system receives air through the main air hose. (Unit operates just like a rail car)
