If UP could wave a magic wand, they'd probably like nothing more than for Amtrak to disappear. This video, and the nerds who decided that it was vital to be posted on YouTube, will become Reason # 321 why UP wants Amtrak off their property. Just think, if Donner Pass was freight-only, you wouldn't have situations like this where know-nothing clueless members of the public post junk like this on the Internet that embarassingly show UP employees violating an important restricted speed rule.
Hearing the passengers speculating as to what happened, and knowing that they are so completely WRONG and CLUELESS, is almost painful to watch. I wish there was an "MUTE" button on a human being when they're spewing commentary that is 100 per cent inaccurate.
Fortunately, no one got hurt and this was a very MINOR incident. I wanna see the MAJOR YouTube stuff. I wanna see the YouTube videos that the passengers shot from Air France Flight 447 showing the flight deck crew trying to keep the plane in the air. Unfortunately, all those videos are at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean along with the "black box."
Now THAT would be "entertaining"!
