No, Pete and Byron Cole owned former Rayonier 2-6-6-2T 8 from the Clallam County
operation. It was active there as standby into the summer of 1964. I don't know that
she was actually ever restored, although Pete did do some work on her. She was in Shelton
by the mid 70's and may have already gone to Chehalis for eventual rebuild.

38 was put on display for a number of years up at Crane Creek, WA and then was acquired by
Fred Kepner and moved to McCloud. She has since been trucked to Merril, OR and sits with
the rest of Fred's collection. Boiler is off of the frame. Not out to start a war here,
but I strongly disagree with some claims that "she will run again". Where in the wide world
of sports are you going to justify running a BIG drag engine like 38 in this country with
the current economy? I can't think of even one location where she would make much sense.
And then there would be the huge tab of rebuilding not one, but two engines under that big
frame. Her glory years are long behind her. Enjoy any photos and movies you may have from
the past.
