"Initial inspection of the alcohol car showed no signs of leakage, but with the aid of a thermal imaging camera and a combustible gas indicator it was determined that the downhill side of the tank, which was dug into the porous hillside soil, had indeed ruptured and had spewed out nearly 30,000 gallons of flammable liquid into the soil prior to emergency responders' arrival," Cassou explained.
