Folks,
Last week I was fortunate to be able to participate in the Willow Creek Productions Charter on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. It was two solid days of action with recently overhauled K-28 Locomotive #478, lettered for the D&RGW. We ran a Pullman Green passenger train on Monday and a mixed train on Tuesday, with both days featuring wall-to-wall sunshine. Both trains were turned at Rockwood and backed into the canyon providing optimal lighting all day.
I think few of us on this trip could ever recall another charter that produced so many beautiful shots. Dave Gross did a fantastic job of picking the spots and the D&S crew put on a beautiful show.
I picked a baker's dozen representative shots to show you, including a couple from the D&S Winter Photo Train, which was run on Sunday. I hope you like them:
Climbing the hill at Hermosa
Mixed train at Elbert Creek after an overnight snow
Turning on the Rockwook Wye
Approaching Hermosa Tank
Passenger train at Elbert Creek
Northbound passenger train on the High Line
Southbound mixed on the rock shelf
Mixed train at Cement Wall
Water stop at Tank Creek
Southbound passenger train at Tank Creek
Passenger train on the High Bridge at Tacoma
Mixed on the High Line
And, a shot of our excellent crew!
