What you'll find, more than likely, is that they'll get a slap on the wrist and be turned loose. When I was a conductor many years ago, police seemed to have very little interest in dealing with problem passengers from onboard a train, with the notable exception of a few small town cops out in podunk nowhere that thrived on getting a phone call from an Amtrak conductor. Their general attitude seemed to be that if they were removed from the train, problem over, no matter what had happened on the train. If the laws were written so as to protect the personnel working on the train similar to what airline employees enjoy, this vermin that so often seems to find its way onto a train just might be a little better behaved.
