Well, lessee. There are 4 A units for sure, probably 5.
One in Portland, one enroute to Frisco, Texas, two in the museum in Puebla, Mexico, and one in (at last report, at least) a museum in Brazil. The hulks of the other two Brazilian units are thought to have been scrapped, although confirmation apparently has been difficult to obtain. Only McCormick's unit in Portland [
nkp190.com] and
possibly one of the units in Mexico have any chance of ever running again.
As trivia, the Pyle Gyralight that's now in the "190" actually came out of Santa Fe PA 54L.
The last Rio Grande B unit that was converted to a steam generator car and then to HEP was sold to the Algoma Central as their #78. Still there as far as I know. Here's a link to a picture of it on the Trainweb web site: [
