The market for retro-look automobiles is measured in hundreds of thousands. The market for retro-look locomotives, assuming there is one at all, would be measured in the dozens, if even that many. The MP36 and it's bretheren seem to be satisfying what market exists quite well.

Nobody, except perhaps the most rabid foamer, is going to make a public transportation decision based on the appearance of the engine. Even then, that foamer won't ride; he'll be lineside taking pictures and looking for something to complain about.
