I fail to see the fatal flaws that the CHSRA finds in this route:

And it still serves Palmdale apparently, which I guess is an ironclad political requirement. I wonder if the hangup is who owns the property involved.

I am guessing around 40-50 miles shorter than the Tehachapi alignment?
