I think that the issues of trucks and the subsidies they receive has been dealt with. Now let's deal with a so-called Department of Transportation-that is a DOT in name only and continues to be a taxpayer funded lobbyist for the highway lobby and not a real "Transportation Department". This is true in everything from shortline maintenance to lip service to the intercity rail program in California. And, let's not forget the lack of political leadership in today's budget which raided voter "protected" transit funds.
