In no way am I gloating, but we're on the Starlight getting ready to attack Tehachapi with the dark clouds promising maybe some snow on the way! Niles Canyon was a little closed in by trees but Altamont was very nice. The turn on the wyes was great and the food has been very good. Amtrak has almost mastered the old AT&SF french toast recipe and their Angus burger puts McD's to shame.

Only downer is no wine tasting in the Parlor Car, the actually expect us to pay for our booze. Shades of withdrawal, here??? Lot of rail luminaries present for the ride.
