I read about this a couple months ago in the CC Times, where it was said the boxcars themselves were too far gone to move, and even if they weren't, the tracks are too decrepit to move trains over. Even if someone wanted to save one or two, I would think the red tape would be prohibitive ... though man military locomotives seem to have been saved over the years.
