For something off the beaten path, consider this idea:
Japan Bus - Rail vehicle
Was noted in a recent Engadget column (www.engadget.com), which normally features high tech, telecom, electronics, and such. Thought it was an interesting idea, although probably impractical for our country given FRA buffer strength regulations and such.
