Good point all! Big subsidies to grow fuel for cars is OK, tiny subsidy for Amtrak is a budget buster? I think NOT.
In Sacramento, the county's taxpayers are being groom by the County to subsidize airlines by taxing themselves to build a $1 billion (note: Amtrak's entire budget) for airport expansion. No public transport to the airport, just more parking lots and a bigger newer terminal.
Oh, and they've pointed out already that there will be no light rail to the airport with this project. It would cost less than .5% of that to build 17 miles of light rail line and buy a few more cars, if the one's they've recently acquired are insufficient.
But I forgot -- money for Amtrak and transit are BAD; money for airlines and road is GOOD.
