BNSF will begin its annual BNSF Railway Special in Emporia, Kan., beginning Friday, June 3 and making a nearly 7,000-mile journey throughout the Southwest.

The BNSF Special features 15 restored vintage passenger railcars from the 1950s and 1960s, powered by two new BNSF locomotives. This year's BNSF Special will visit 11 cities on parts of four operating divisions: Colorado, Gulf, Kansas and Southwest. The trip will conclude on Friday, June 24, in Wellington, Kan.

Designed to recognize employees and their families for their contributions to the success of the company, the BNSF Special also provides an opportunity through the BNSF Foundation to support selected outstanding community organizations.

"Each year we operate the BNSF Special to honor our employees and the communities where they live and work. This trip reminds those on board of the vital role our railroad plays along a part of our network," said Carl Ice, president and chief operating officer.

Ticketing has begun. Active BNSF employees can receive up to four free tickets by calling the Central Ticket Office toll-free at 800-462-7979 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT. Each trip segment will include an approximately three-hour roundtrip ride.

Because of the anticipated high demand for each trip segment, employees are encouraged to be patient when calling Central Ticket Office to reserve their ticket orders.
