regarding the reconstruction of the benewah trestle on the ex-milwaukee road mainline in idaho:
the latest i am hearing is the crew that was contracted to repair the benewah trestle just west of st maries, idaho was called to another job until after the first of the year. some sort of higher priority job with perishables involved? this will delay the benewah reconstruction somewhat.
the st maries river railroad branch line from clarkia is still operating and hauled in fifty-five loads on monday and is scheduled to run again on wednesday. on thursday they will apparently use the leased locomotive stored at plummer, idaho to haul steel and bridge building supplies to the west end of the benewah (where the major damage occured).
realistically, i would think the best guestimate for renewal of service on the old milwaukee main from st maries to plummer (and connection with the UP) would be valentines day!?
my holiday greetings to everyone. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
