The SD70 is a 4000 hp locomotive while the SD75 is a 4300 hp locomotive. The SD75 was a optional higher horsepower locomotive. The Santa Fe purchased them for York Canyon coal service but the mine closed before they could be used.

When EMD updated there catalog to the SD70ACE and SD70M-2, they made 4300 horsepower standard so a SD75 is no longer offered.
